■Background
Environmental performance, such as vibration and noise, is controlled by design values, but simply meeting standards does not necessarily lead directly to "comfort" for occupants, and verbal explanations alone tend to create discrepancies with actual experience.
If the design process is based solely on desk calculations, it is difficult to form a "sensory consensus" with the client, and there is a risk that the degree of satisfaction with livability will decline after construction is completed. This is why it is essential to have a base where the designer and client share the same "experience" as a common language, and where a more precise and essential approach can be taken.
Five features of the new showroom
(1) Experience vibration and sound
Reproduces a variety of shaking and sounds that occur in actual buildings. This eliminates concerns at the design stage.
- Experience of floor swaying: Reproduction of steel-frame long-span floor (natural frequency: 6Hz, damping: approx. 2%)
- Wind sway experience: Simulates wind sway (horizontal direction) in a mid-rise building
- Stair swaying sensation: Reproduces the swaying when walking on steel stairs
- Experience of sound: Experience the actual noise generated by civil engineering works and the effect of soundproof houses installed as a countermeasure.
- Visualization of standards: Linking "numerical" and "experiential" values based on guidelines from the Architectural Institute of Japan and other organizations.
(2) View and touch products
Various types of vibration control and seismic isolation devices are on display. You can actually move them to check their operation, size, and fit.

- Link simulation results to actual vibration experience to confirm target design values
- Support for explanation and consensus building of environmental vibration design to the client
4) Learning about vibration and sound
This seminar is designed for "young engineers," "designers," and "those who want to learn the basics of vibration and sound. Basic knowledge of seismic isolation, vibration control, vibration isolation, and soundproofing, and basic approaches to problem solving will be explained.
5) Together, we will create the future -- LAB for co-creation
The "Co-Creation Lab" is located in the showroom for joint development and discussion of industry issues. This is a place where stakeholders and Yakumo employees can gather to create new value together.
